Nordic Spaceship” was the direction our clients gave us for this prefab ADU, and honestly, it was such a fun one to bring to life. Craned into place as a finished unit, the ADU gave us a blank canvas to transform into a warm, comfortable space for working, hanging out, and hosting friends.

This was our third project with these clients, so we already had a good understanding of their love for neutrals, texture, and a sense of warmth. We used that as our starting point, layering in clean, slightly Scandinavian lines, chrome accents, and a few retro inspired details to give the space its subtle spaceship feel without taking the concept too literally.

Because the footprint was small, thoughtful planning and custom pieces were especially important. In the office, a custom console was designed to fit the space just right, while a custom bench anchors the bedroom. In the living room, a round rug softens the clean lines and helps define the seating area.

The bedroom was designed to feel like a retreat within the retreat. Grasscloth wallpaper envelops the room, paired with a custom headboard and relaxed linen bedding to create the spa like feeling our clients wanted.

The end result is a small space that feels warm, layered, and personal, with just enough of that retro “spaceship” character to make it feel unexpected.
